Florida update: guess what and win BLOG CANDY; CLOWNS! and soon-to-be new Dizzy Broad addition: plastic shopping bag PURSES!!!

We are so enjoying our time here in Florida! We LOVE the 90 degree humid temperatures (I look 20 years younger with all this moisture! - that would put me to about age 9 since I'm "29" years old! LOL!!). Kids are swimming everyday and DH has come down to join us too.

Here is what we picked from Grandma/Lala's garden. Can you guess what they are? Leave a comment on this blog post and you can win the next Dizzy Broad BLOG CANDY!!:

And here is some more fun stuff: My Mom's group of clown friends! They are called the Sunshine Clowns and have names like Patches, Flowers, Cookie, Spritz, Cuddle Bear and Pearl. We met them at Steve's Place in Newport Richey and what a ball everyone had with them. All the customers and waitstaff were sporting clown "kisses" and stickers. Here they are pictured with some of the restaurant customers:

Look at these RECYCLED beauties!!! These are handcut, hand-crocheted and individually assembled by my talented Mom. All of our relatives have been saving their plastic grocery bags and then sends them to my Mom, who, in turn, cuts them into strips, strings the "yarn" together then painstakingly crochets them into these marvelous purses. We are doing our part towards saving the environment! She also uses vintage material to line the insides - some she has hoarded for 20+ years. Purses range in sizes and many have multiple pockets inside to keep your things organized. And also they zip shut so contents do not fall out! How cool is that?! If you look closely, you may be able to identify the plastic bags! I will start posting these shortly after we get back from vacation.

Happy 4th of July!! Now don't be shy and leave a comment guessing what those orange fruits are and you may be the next blog candy winner! Details later on what you'll win - I'll leave the contest open for 2 weeks to allow time for me to finish my vacation and to catch up with things at home. Happy day!

Sizzle in Florida

Dizzy Broad will be on vacation starting now through July 8th! The weather in the San Francisco bay area has gone back down to mid 60s so we're temporarily migrating waaaay south to Florida (we can't wait to see you Mom and Dad!), but only for a couple of weeks.

I will be periodically checking on my Etsy shop and looking to see if any new folks heart me! LOL!!! Sometimes a gal gets tired of talking to herself and need a little feedback :-))))).

I got more cool stuff to post here and my shop when I return (such as that one pictured above - Cami, that is also your graduation gift!). AND more great blog candy!!

Have a wonderful 2 weeks and wishing you lots of summer fun and heat!

BLOG CANDY WINNERS!

I SWEAR there was no favoritism/nepotism that took place in selecting the winners of tonight's blog candy!

Drum roll plz......winner is hadesigns!! Congrats, Holly! Grant chose your name.

Now, there was a 2nd winner - favorite name for the teeth envelopes goes to: Tooth Treasure, submitted by Cami! Grant also chose this name - Beck's wouldn't choose, says that she can't read so she didn't want to choose (btw, he didn't know who submitted the names). Congrats ladies!

And thanks to Heather and Lila for playing along! I will pack up the goodies tonight and mail tomorrow!

Stay tuned tomorrow for sneak peek of Make-your-own Purse kits!

What a weekend! Plus Blog Candy details!!

School is out!!! Which means both kids are home with me - all day! We're here for a week then off to Florida for a couple of weeks to visit my parents.

This is a picture of the boys during the sleepover. Yes, that is a tent INSIDE the house. Great way to contain the sleepover mess and keeps them in one spot. LOL!!! Despite their wanting to stay up all night, they all fell asleep around midnight. It was the most tame sleepover I've ever experienced.

Making things for Dizzy Broad is slooooow going. Especially this weekend with the sleepover, Super Soaker playdate, and oh, Father's day! Here's a photo of some of my card candy packed up and ready to go to a new home:

Also, new card design for anniversary - soon to be posted in the shop - it is, afterall, wedding season!

Here's the fun present my son gave to his teacher. Made some stationery using some free fonts and also some "teeth envelopes".

Now, for the BLOG CANDY details!!!! These sad little "teeth envelopes" will have to go through re-design as I'm not very happy with the way they turned out. These are great teacher gifts though - especially for lower grade teachers where their students are starting to lose those precious baby teeth. Isn't this a great way for the teacher to send that lost tooth home? It is a small envelope with a die cut tooth on the front and hand-stamped with "date" on it. My son's teacher got a dozen of them and packaged up in the cute little red handmade box you see in the group photo above. The only thing missing is a clever name for them. This is where the blog candy contest comes in.....How do you enter to win? Leave a comment on this WEDNESDAY's post (a picture of the blog candy will be up then) suggesting a clever name for the sad little "teeth envelopes" and your comment will be entered in a random drawing to win this week's blog candy.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed these photos! Tomorrow, I will post the pictures of the really cute Tie/shirt magnet bookmarks books. Good night!

Attention Crafters!!

I was browsing to see where I can find that super-duper ATG 714 gun and found it on OVERSTOCKS.com!!!! Also noticed that they have the Nestabilities on there for only $19.99 (vs. $24.99 retail). Maybe everyone knows about it but thought some out there may be like me and not know that this is a great, cheap source for some craft tools/items.

You can find the Nestabilities here
Shipping today is only $2.95!

The ATG 714 gun is here

More later.....

Update: Even cheaper Nestabilities at Scrap-mart plus FREE shipping! They list them at $18.99 per set, no tax and NO SHIPPING! The free shipping, I believe, is for limited time.

I never got much done for Dizzy Broad because it was all about the boy (so far) this weekend. TOmorrow, it will be about the big boy (DH - Father's day!). LOL! My camera is full of pictures of things I've made, including a bunch of shirt/tie magnet bookmarks (courtesy of Martha via Mel's Blog - you've got to go visit Mel's blog - she is AMAZING and full of ideas, some, out of this world!).

Anyway, did some serious case-ing of the bookmarks, except used my own cardstock and paper pieced the tie and added button brads. THEN...made little books with faux fabric binding and typed on the computer some current book titles my DH is reading, then printed, cut and glued the book titles to the front of the "books". Inside I put the shirt/tie magnet. Great packaging for fun, easy gifts (a couple of these are going to my Aunt as thank you gifts for shopping in my Dizzy shop. Since the camera is currently charging battery, will have to wait to post these fun photos. Plus I also have a few (cryptic) photos of the sleepover. No - you will not see full-on photos of anyone on this blog....why??? We just want to be rich but not famous! LOL!!!! Good night!
