Scary Rabbit

Here's another food-related critique: Williams Sonoma 3D cake pan

I got this adorable looking pan from my family and finally used it this last Easter. It looked easy enough.....NOT! The accompanying cake recipe does not make enough to fill the pan so when you "glue" the 2 pieces of cake together, they won't stick! Then you'd have to use a ton of frosting to fill in the hollow spots and who would want to eat that then? Well, we did TRY to eat it but the cake recipe was the rubbery-est cake I've ever chewed on. It was also tasteless! I'd like to think I'm an experience baker (see the other photo? I made that for my daughter's 3rd birthday and yep, it's a 3D teapot, complete with chocolate handle and spout) so it was a huge disappointment to have this turn out so horribly!

If you already own this pan or thinking of buying it because it may be on sale at WS, BUYER BEWARE! Buy a poundcake mix at the store or use your own tried-and-true poundcake recipe. I even thought that they did that on purpose so you'd go back to their store and buy the very expensive cake mix they're always displaying near their cake pans.

BTW, the green grass you see there is edible grass from Target (it was apple flavored).

A word about Crisco and Frosting
If you're one to make that "buttercream" frosting using Crisco, don't know if you've noticed but the new zero transfat formula no longer makes creamy frosting. I don't know what they did to it but it does not produce creamy frosting. You're better off using butter or better yet, buying a few cans of ready made frosting!
